The cut
We filmed on a normal Tuesday, in the shop, on a phone. No lights, no crew. Every video opens with the clippers already buzzing, and the price shows up on screen two seconds in, because the price was the thing people were wondering about.

The story
What was going wrong
Their videos opened with a logo animation and a slow pan of an empty shop. Anyone who wasn’t already hunting for a barber had no reason to keep watching.
Before
A logo, then a price list. Nine seconds before anything actually happened.
After
Clippers running immediately. Price at two seconds. Booking link at five.
Twice as many people watched to the end
What happened next
The 2pm slot filled up first. The six videos kept working for eleven weeks, about three times longer than anything they had run before.
A three chair shop in Etobicoke. They came to us asking to look more premium. The real problem was that their chairs sat empty from 1pm to 4pm on weekdays while they turned people away on Saturdays.
They now film a new one themselves every second Tuesday.
